Lesbian Singles Retreat

Since starting our Lesbian Adventure in Love Retreats for couples, we have repeatedly been asked if we will be offering retreats for single lesbians. While we do offer a 6-week online course, The Datable Lesbian, and also offer occasional Speed Dating Events for lesbians, we have not ventured into the world of retreats until now.

We are kicking off our first ever single lesbian retreat in San Juan, Puerto Rico in a private, lesbian-run, boutique hotel that accommodates 17 women. This safe, shared space offers each participant a private bedroom and bathroom - as well as a continental-style breakfast. We will offer a mix of structured learning sessions each morning, coupled with free time for adventures in the afternoon most days, and we will return for working sessions on a couple evenings, but not all.

Our Story

Michele O'Mara has been a pioneering force for the lesbian community since 2005, offering unique, transformative experiences that cater not only to couples but also to single lesbians seeking personal growth and connection. Initially, Michele's journey started with weekend workshops in her Indianapolis office, helping individuals and couples discover relationships and self-enhancing skills without the extensive time commitment typically associated with traditional counseling.

In response to the growing demand for deeper, more immersive experiences, Michele expanded her vision. In 2018, alongside her wife Kristen, they launched "Adventures in Love," blending their love for travel with their passion for personal and relational development. This evolution led to the introduction of "Lesbian Adventures in Love," retreats specifically designed to offer transformative vacation experiences for couples, and now they are expanding to create equally powerful experiences for single lesbians who are looking for meaningful connections and self-discovery, all in the comfort of intimate, luxury accommodations.

Our retreats go beyond generic advice or temporary fixes. We offer comprehensive, no-nonsense programs tailored to the personal development and relational dynamics single lesbians seek to understand and improve. With a focus on practical tools and actionable steps, we're here to guide you on your journey from self-discovery to deeper connections.

Our Retreat Sanctuary

Located in the heart of the artsy district, our retreat sanctuary puts us a stone's throw away from some of the city's best cafés, galleries, and boutiques. Our stunning location combines the rich culture of Puerto Rico with the breathtaking beauty of the island's natural landscape - a 16-minute walk of Ocean Park Beach, 4.9 miles from Fort San Felipe del Morro, a 13-minute walk from Sagrado Corazon Station and 1.7 miles from Barbosa Park.

Our hotel is lesbian-run, and situated in a beautifully restored building that maintains the colonial architecture that San Juan is famous for, combined with modern amenities to provide the best of both worlds. Old world style meets modern comforts. The rich history of San Juan unfolds around every corner, from the majestic Castillo San Felipe del Morro to the peaceful beauty of the San Juan Bay - full of opportunities to take in the local cuisine, or simply soak up the sun on one of the nearby beaches. Judgment-free environment

Hosted in a safe, lesbian-run hotel, we will have the freedom to be ourselves and to relax and unwind. You will be accepted exactly where you are - whether you recently broke up, are reeling from an on-again, off-again relationship, or if you are long into singlehood and feeling discouraged. We will meet you where you are.
Dating and Relationship Exploration

You will be invited to take a deeper look at your dating and relationship patterns, looking for your vulnerabilities and opportunities for growth. With both group discussion and personal written exercises, you will be guided to explore your dating history, challenges and growth opportunities.

Novel Adventures with New Friends

All adventures are optional, and we hope you will join us and others. Each day, you will have free time to socialize, develop new friendships, and enjoy your time on the island. We believe in a healthy balance of work and play - and this retreat is no different!

What COVID precautions are required?

While we prefer that retreat participants be vaccinated and boosted, we no longer require this.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancelation POLICY

Our Singles Retreat cancelation policy is as follows:

1. Cancel before June 10th; you will receive a refund of money paid to date, minus the $95 cancelation fee and any non-refundable e-commerce fees (usually 3%).

2. No refunds if you cancel on or after June 10th, 2024.

No one books a retreat with the intention of canceling it, yet unexpected events do occur, so please consider purchasing travel insurance (see below), especially if you are flying.

It is your responsibility to read and understand our cancelation policies. Exceptions cannot be made for any reason, including weather, injury/illness, or personal emergencies.

No refunds or credits for failure to attend, failure to complete the retreat, or for arriving late or leaving early. A new relationship does not change anything. You are still encouraged to attend. It may be the best thing for you to attend a single’s retreat when you are just in the initial stages of getting to know someone new. If your new dating interest views this as a threat, that may indicate a red flag that she is not supportive of your personal growth.

Lesbian Adventures in Love is not responsible for expenses, including but not limited to flights, lodging, meals, and transportation, incurred due to delays and/or detainments beyond the trip itinerary due to circumstances beyond our control, such as an upsurge of COVID-19, war, weather, etc.

No refunds will be made for any pre-paid excursion or other planned activities that the participant misses or decides not to participate in for any reason.

TRAVEL and MEDICAL INSURANCE
We recommend that you purchase your own travel insurance. We encourage you to purchase trip cancelation insurance to cover your trip fees should you or your partner have a medical problem before or during the trip. Trip insurance should also be purchased to cover medical expenses if you have an accident while in the Retreat.

Be sure to quote “cancel for any reason” coverage and inquire about your ability to receive reimbursement for payments made to Adventures in Love. Most travel insurance must be purchased within 14 days of making your reservation.

Cancelation BY LESBIAN ADVENTURES IN LOVE
If the retreat does not reach minimum enrollment, the retreat organizers reserve the right to cancel Retreats. In this case, all money paid to Lesbian Adventures in Love Retreats will be refunded. Notification of Cancelation for this reason will occur at least 60 days before the retreat start date. Lesbian Adventures in Love cannot be held responsible for personal expenses, such as airline tickets, due to itinerary changes or retreat Cancelations.

No compensation will be made when a Cancelation arises before or during the trip from circumstances beyond our control (force majeure), such as an upsurge in COVID-19, war, strife, civil disobedience, strikes, terrorist activity, adverse weather conditions, fire, natural disasters, etc., unless or until the retreat organizer can recover any retreat related sums. In the event of Cancelation arising from circumstances beyond our control, retreat-related sums recovered by the retreat organizer will be distributed equitably to the participants after the retreat organizer deducts all out-of-pocket costs and related expenses.

DIGITAL IMAGES
By participating in a retreat, participants acknowledge and agree to digital images of their being and likeness taken by Lesbian Adventures in Love and other participants and that such images may be shared at will online and publicly.

TRANSPORTATION
Your transportation to and from and during the retreat is your responsibility. If the retreat is canceled for any reason, you will not be reimbursed for transportation expenses.

RELEASE OF LIABILITY
Participants acknowledge and accept responsibility for the risk of injury while participating in any activity while at the retreat and waive any rights, claims, and causes of action arising out of participation in any activity while at the retreat.

Participants acknowledge and promise not to participate in activities unless medically and mentally able.

Participants accept and assume the risk of contracting COVID-19, a variant of the virus, or any other infectious or other disease that may prevent them from participating in coaching services or any other activities while at the retreat and will not hold Adventures in Love reliable for any illness or disability she may sustain, or for medical costs or care or any other related economic loss incurred as a result of contracting said virus or other infectious disease while at the retreat. Participants also accept that she will not be reimbursed for any fees or costs she has already expended on coaching services or activities while at the retreat if unable to complete or participate.

The largest and most accessible airport is Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport, commonly known as the San Juan Airport (SJU). Located in Isla Verde – in the Carolina district – this airport is just minutes away from San Juan.

Do we need a rental car?

Dr. O’Mara is committed to continually enhancing her expertise with multiple relationship trainings and certifications including: Gottman Method Level 3, Certified Imago Therapist, EFT trained, and Discernment Counseling Certified. In 2014, she earned a Ph.D. in Clinical Sexology, focusing on lesbian sexuality, and remains passionately dedicated to exploring lesbian love and relationships.
